Camping – West Wales
“As a couple and then as a family, we’ve spent a lot of our free time camping in the UK and Europe over the last ten years.
Here in Wales, we have so many beautiful places to camp right on our doorstep. You don’t need to spend a lot of money or stress about planning and packing – camping is simple!
Depending on what type of break we’re looking for, here is our top three campsites in Wales;
For an ‘off the grid’ experience, there’s nowhere better. This campsite is located around the farmland and above the gorgeous beach cove at Mwnt. Apart from a toilet/ shower block and a washing up area, there are no other facilities and there’s no phone reception! Do your shopping en route to ensure you can relax and appreciate the whole experience at this wonderful site.
During your stay, take a walk up the Mwnt, and take a look through the spy glass to see if you can spot the families of dolphins playing in the waves. Return to the site and get the bbq fired up before watching the sunset over Cardigan Island.
This is the perfect campsite for families who like to surf. The beach is sunning and the sand dunes are a perfect place to play and create adventures. The facilities on this site are perfect for families and young people and you can have a nice and reasonably priced meal at ‘Café Eddy ‘.
The surf is really good and that’s the main reason people have been coming here for years. It can be busy during the holidays, and you can’t book in advance. It has a lovely eclectic feel, and it’s the perfect place to kick off your heels and watch the world go by, which makes the journey worthwhile.
This is a recent discovery and we found it by accident! We’ve only stayed here once, but I had to include it as it’s so beautiful. We stayed in a camping pod on the camping site, and everyone who stays here can make use of the facilities at the YHA, which includes: toilet/ shower block, a modern community kitchen, areas for socializing and a café.
The thing that makes this place so amazing is the direct access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the breathtaking Skrinkle Haven beach. It is honestly one of the most magical beaches I’ve seen in a long time, it has a ‘Jurassic Park’ feel because of the wild and rugged landscape and it is the perfect place for creating lots of unbelievable family adventures”.
