My name is Hannah and I’m a portrait photographer who specialises in photographing families, children and babies. Since formally starting my business last year, I have felt truly privileged to have had the opportunity to capture precious memories for numerous families across South Wales.
Having 2 beautiful young girls myself, I really appreciate how quickly they grow and I feel honoured to be able to provide my clients with beautiful pieces of art that they can treasure for the future. A quality photo shoot is an investment so here are my top 5 tips for making the most of the experience and for ensuring you receive photographs to fall in love with.
1 – Choose a photographer because you love their style.
Every family is unique and every photographer is unique. Choose a photographer that you think can truly reflect your style and personalities. Look through examples of their work and where possible, speak to the photographer on the phone to chat through your expectations.
2 – Newborn photoshoot.
When booking a newborn photo shoot always choose someone who is trained in newborn photography and who knows how to pose your baby safely.
Newborn photography is extremely specialist. Please ask questions of your photographer and make sure you are completely satisfied that they know how to handle and pose your precious newborn safely.
3 – Consider what you would like to do with the images you receive.
Do you have a particular room you would like to display your images? If you are planning on framing and hanging your images in your home, consider the colours and style that will suit your environment and choose your location and outfits accordingly. We are the most photographed generation who will have the least to show for it. USB devices, like all technology, will become outdated. Please have your memories beautifully printed to look back on for years to come.
4 – Consider how you would like the images to look when choosing outfits.
You want your images to be a natural reflection of your family so I always recommend choosing outfits that reflect your style and personality. However, it is important to consider how your final images will look. I always advise against clothes that are heavily patterned or brightly coloured as this can distract the eye. It’s also best to avoid anything with a prominent logo that may become quickly outdated.
5 – Enjoy the experience.
Please try to enjoy your photoshoot. It doesn’t matter if your child wants to run around halfway through the session or if they don’t smile perfectly at the camera. Its your photographer’s job to capture beautiful, natural images of your family. So, enjoy this special time with your family and look forward with excitement to seeing your memories in print.
