As part of our #MamFit Challenge this year I have tried my best to find more time for myself to relax and be outside in the great outdoors. One of my main interests is camping, I love being in a field away from technology and housework, and listening to the birds singing and having plenty of fun in the fresh air, so, I decided to combine everything and arrange a Mam Cymru glamping weekend! An opportunity to get together to relax, have fun, pamper ourselves and make new friends!
This glamping weekend will be held on 28-30 June and it’s unique! As with all of Mam Cymru’s events, we will be supporting businesses which are run by the mums and women of Wales.
THE GLAMPING SITE
The glamping weekend will be held at Cefn Crib Glamping site in Pennal. This is a luxury glamping site with proper facilities – I know how important a hot shower and a comfy bed is when we’re camping! It’s located in the beautiful and peaceful Mid Wales countryside and is run by Sian Wyn Breese and her family. Mam Cymru will have exclusive use of this private field throughout the weekend and, yes, the glamping tents are luxurious and refined, thanks to Sian!
We will enjoy the Friday and Saturday night in one of the glamping tents. There will be plenty of opportunity to relax, wander around the site and enjoy the exceptional views.
Friday 28 June
You can arrive at the site any time after 3pm. There’s no hurry, the intention is to relax and enjoy ourselves and all the activities are optional – this is YOUR weekend!
At 16:30 on the Friday there will be an opportunity to join our essential oils workshop, where you will create a personal ‘roller oil’ to match your own needs; stress, anxiety, fatigue…anything! You will also have an opportunity to taste and learn about the benefits of kefir drinks and raw cakes. The session is held by mum and businesswoman Sally Strawberry of Nature’s Divine Delights.
On Friday evening, there will be an opportunity to relax and socialise while enjoying supper under the stars in the glamping site and an opportunity to enjoy one of my favourite camping activities – toasting marshmallows! The food, tea and coffee and water will be provided, you don’t need to bring anything with you – but you’re welcome to do so of course!
Saturday 29 June
There’s no need to get up early – you can have a lie in if you like?! Breakfast ingredients will be provided for you to enjoy when you’re ready.
Mid-morning, you will have a chance to join in a bilingual yoga workshop in the company of mum and yoga teacher, Gwenith Elias. Mats will be provided but you’re welcome to bring your own mat. The session is suitable for beginners and those who are more used to exercising and enjoying the benefits of yoga – an activity that I have enjoyed and benefited greatly from since first discovering it earlier this year. We hope to be able to hold the session outdoors in the glamping site, but if that Welsh weather has other ideas, we will hold the session in a community centre a few minutes from the glamping site.
The afternoon will be free for you to relax and enjoy on site, or you can join us for a beach walk in Aberdyfi or what about spending the afternoon in a local Spa? There is an additional cost of £11 per head to use the spa.
Tonight, we can enjoy a three-course meal cooked on site by the lovely Angharad Elias from Pop-tŷ – I can announce that Angharad’s food is one of the best meals I have ever tasted!
The meal will be served under the stars in the glamping site, but if the weather’s bad, we will re-locate to the local community centre. A taxi will be arranged to take you there and back at no extra charge.
After enjoying the meal, there will be an opportunity to relax and sink into your seats while enjoying an exclusive acoustic performance by the local singer and author, Manon Steffan Ros. Heaven!
After enjoying another lazy morning, you can enjoy your breakfast before saying goodbye to the site and your new friends! Yes, all good things come an end, don’t they?! If you aren’t in a hurry to go home, we could suggest many lovely locations for you to visit in the area, so don’t forget to ask!
There are four glamping tents on the site and the tents can sleep up to four people in one double bed and one futon. The price is £275 each based on two or three people sharing a tent or £245 based on four sharing a tent. The price includes accommodation, activities, entertainment, two breakfasts and two suppers and the transport to and from the community hall if the weather is bad.
To book your place, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org by 24 May. You will need to pay a deposit of £100 to reserve your place and the rest will need to be paid by 14 June. This payment is non-refundable.
I look forward to welcoming you!
