Relax and unwind at Cae Bach
There’s a famous line in the film Jerry Maguire, isn’t there? ‘You had me at hello.’ And the same thing was true for my husband, Sion, and me when we saw Cwm Pennant for the first time. As well as the house – which needed a lot of work – there was a stable, which once belonged to a vet who also kept horses. Yes, it was small, and it would have fallen into ruin had it not been restored, but it stood in it’s own paddock and had incredible views of the sea. A little oasis on top of the hill which is now a romantic holiday cottage for two.
One thing we love about Cae Bach is that it is close to town (you can walk there in ten minutes), but once here you feel as if you are in the middle of the countryside. You could be the only two people in the world – and being parents ourselves, we know how important it is to enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet!
Sion designed the plans for the small cottage, and we kept the bones of the old building, adding a modern extension, with the help of Barry Rowlands and company. Supporting local businesses is very important to us, and Cae Bach is full of furnishings and decorations which we have bought here in Aberystwyth, from the Welsh blankets to items found at Coastal Vintage. The welcome package is full of ideas of things to do and experience to ensure you make the most of your holiday… after all, you work hard and deserve a break.
It’s a lovely feeling to know we offer service of the higher standard as we picture our visitors excited about getting to Cae Bach. In the summer you can relax in the sunshine, and in the autumn, watch the wildlife through the French doors as you keep warm and cosy in front of the open fire. We’re on the coastal path, so you can be revitalised by walks in the sea air, or treat yourself to world class cuisine from restaurant’s such as Pysgoty on your doorstep.
We want to spoil you, so fresh flowers and Welsh goodies await, as well as a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge – yes, for free!
One of our favourite things is reading the kind words in the visitors book – and we don’t think we’re the only ones who think this is a magical place, because more than one couple have got engaged at Cae Bach, and others have chosen to spend their honeymoon here.
‘Hello?’… Well, why don’t you see for yourself.
